2010 World Cup Rally for Scholarships
Join us for some of the most fun you can have... in or out of your car at the second (not quite annual) Car Rally for Scholarships.

Important information:

When: June 13th - meet at 10:30 AM

Where: We will meet under the sign at the Westfield Mall North County (off the I-15 at Via Rancho Parkway, Escondido). The end point is Cocina del Charro in Escondido.

How much? Entry per car: $40 includes the donation and one dinner; additional riders (and dinners) - $20 each. Early bird registration discount by May 23 - $2 PER PERSON! ($38 - driver, $18 - each additional rider)

What does this include? A fun rally consisting of 3 - 4 hours of driving, stopping at "checkpoints" and engaging in some activities; dinner and celebration, trophies, many door prizes, a raffle drawing (with great prizes)... and more fun!

How do I sign up? Visit the website: www.wwggd.org and click on "Car Rally" for information and registration forms. If you would like to be placed on a team with friends... just indicate that on your registration. Or, you may certainly enter as an individual and we will place you on a team!

Additional Rally info:

• The competition (and trophies awarded) will be by "team." We will place you on a team by CAR COLOR or car type... or however you want, or you may enter as a team (group of friends, car club, etc.)
• If you want to enter a team - it should consist of 8-10 people (4-5 Miatas, for example). But - all types of vehicles are welcome.
• You will indicate your preference - entering as a team or individual - on the registration!
• Each team will represent one of the World Cup participating countries and travel some of the best roads in San Diego County.
• If your team registers in advance... you may request your "country" and don their colors, if you'd like. We will have small flags for each car.
• This is not a race or speed event... it is a FUN rally, that the whole family can participate in!
• At each checkpoint site, there will be competition involving trivia knowledge, puzzles, games and "skill" events.

Fundraising aspect: The rally raises money to fund several scholarships for deserving soccer players from local soccer clubs.

"Run to Stars" fun run to Palomar Observatory has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 20
The run up to the Palomar Observatory originally scheduled for January 23 was postponed due to inclement weather and dangerous road conditions on Palomar Mountain. The tour has been rescheduled for Saturday , March 20.

Run details:
Meet at Mazda of Escondido at 10:15 a.m. Driver's meeting is at 10:45 sharp. The run will begin promptly at 11 a.m. This event is limited to 35-40 participants. If you had already paid for the original event but cannot attend, please email Terry and Roland Soule for a refund. Contact them if you would like to attend.

Surf 'N' Safari '10 Registration Now Open
San Diego Miata Club's famous regional event, Surf 'N' Safari, is coming again in October 2010! This will be the third Surf 'N' Safari event that SDMC has hosted, and this one promises to be the best yet! Get all the details and register for this spectacuar event here.

Corvette/Miata Challenge
A joint event with the Corvette Owners Club of San Diego (COCSD)... Run leaves Bob Stall Chevrolet after a 9:15 am drivers meeting. The run will take us to K1 Speed indoor kart track in Carlsbad and get us there about 11 am. We will split into groups, men and women in separate groups, to race. $45 will get you a qualifying race of 14 laps and a championship race of 16 laps. Trophies given as part of the $45 to podium winners in each group. There is no cost to come along and watch. After the racing we will go to a nearby restaurant for eating, awards, and fun. SCAT/SDMC Driving School
On Saturday, September 20, 2008, the Southern California Autocross Team (SCAT) and San Diego Miata Club (SDMC) join forces to present a driving school at Qualcomm Stadium. This school will focus on safely controlling the Mazda Miata in a variety of situations. Each entry costs $75. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer 3 Day. There is a maximum of 60 entries. The school is open to SDMC members only; if the maximum number of entries is not met, registration will be opened to other drivers. Click here to download the registration form (PDF).

Our very own Judy Lewis will be participating again in the San Diego Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Her goal is to raise $2,200 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust. You can view her progress and donate on this website!

2008 Annual Picnic
Come join your friends for an afternoon filled with food, fun, and prizes! The 2008 SDMC Annual Picnic will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2008, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center.
